We are looking for an experienced and passionate Database Engineering Tutor to teach, mentor, and guide students from beginner level to job-ready competence in database design, SQL, Python programming, database administration, performance tuning, and real-world database systems.

Role Summary

The Database Engineering Tutor will deliver high-quality training sessions, create practical learning materials, support students with assignments and projects, and help learners build strong foundations in database technologies and Python programming.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on database engineering experience, practical Python programming knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to beginners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach beginner to intermediate database engineering concepts in a clear, practical, and engaging way.

  • Teach Python programming fundamentals for database engineering, automation, data handling, scripting, and backend/database workflows.

  • Deliver live classes, workshops, labs, and project-based training sessions.

  • Train students on database fundamentals, SQL, relational database design, normalization, indexing, constraints, transactions, joins, and query optimization.

  • Introduce students to database administration concepts such as backup and recovery, user management, security, monitoring, and performance tuning.

  • Guide students in using Python to connect to databases, query data, process results, automate routine database tasks, and build simple database-driven applications.

  • Prepare lesson notes, slides, quizzes, assignments, lab exercises, and project briefs.

  • Guide students through hands-on database projects using tools such as Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MariaDB, or similar platforms.

  • Review student assignments and provide constructive feedback.

  • Mentor students on career paths, portfolio projects, interview preparation, and industry expectations.

  • Track student progress and report learning outcomes to the academy leadership team.

  • Stay current with modern database technologies, cloud databases, Python tools, automation, and industry best practices.

  • Support curriculum improvement and contribute ideas for making the Database Engineering program more practical and career-focused.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.

  • Practical experience with at least one major database platform such as Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or MariaDB.

  • Working knowledge of Python programming, including variables, functions, control flow, file handling, error handling, modules, and basic scripting.

  • Understanding of database design, ER diagrams, normalization, indexing, joins, stored procedures, views, and transactions.

  • Knowledge of database administration basics including backup, restore, security, roles, users, and permissions.

  • Ability to teach students how to use Python with databases for querying, automation, and simple application workflows.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts to beginners in a simple and structured way.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.

  • Ability to create practical exercises, projects, and learning materials.

  • Patient, professional, and passionate about helping students succeed.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The preferred candidate should have:

  • At least 5+ years of professional experience in database engineering, database administration, data engineering, backend database development, or related technical roles.

  • Practical experience using Python for database automation, data processing, backend scripting, reporting, or ETL workflows.

  • Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or corporate training experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or cloud database platforms.

  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, execution plans, database monitoring, backup and recovery, and database security.

  • Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is an added advantage.

  • Experience using Python libraries or tools such as pandas, SQLAlchemy, psycopg2, cx_Oracle/oracledb, PyMySQL, Jupyter Notebook, or similar tools is an added advantage.

  • Experience using GitHub, LMS platforms, Google Workspace, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar teaching tools.

  • Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Azure Database certification, AWS Database Specialty, PostgreSQL certification, Python certification, or similar credentials are a plus.
